Front Desk/Office Assistant

POSITION IMPACT
This position will bring a positive outcome to the church because if someone comes into the office or calls the office, someone is always there to greet them or take their call. Some information can be forwarded to voicemail, etc. but sometimes people call or come in that need immediate help.

QUALIFICATIONS
Some of the key qualifications for this position include being able to answer the phone, take a message, and transfer calls. They should be able to do basic office tasks, such as filing, making copies, and shredding documents as needed. Background that would be helpful for this position include being comfortable talking to new people,  being discreet, feeling comfortable using a computer to send occasional emails and to update profiles in our database.

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT
We are looking for a one year commitment.

TRAINING
Most of the training for this position takes place during a typical shift so the volunteer can be hands-on with the equipment.

Assistant Small Group Leader (ASGL)

POSITION IMPACT
ASGLs have an opportunity to positively impact the lives of children by teaching God’s word and building relationships with them while working with the SGL to teach lessons and lead activities.

Joyful Noise Bell Choir 

POSITION IMPACT
The Joyful Noise Bell Choir ensemble performs special music before and during the Traditional Worship Service and helps worshippers connect with the Lord through musical expression and song.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Love for and desire to praise the Lord through music

  • The ability to read music is required and a background in ensemble playing (school band, choir, etc.) is preferred but not required

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT
The Joyful Noise Bell Choir plays on the second Sunday at the Traditional worship service once a month.  Rehearsals are each Monday at 7:00pm.

The ability to ready music is a must, however, previous bell choir experience is not.  Training is offered as needed to those who are interested and would occur before, during and after scheduled rehearsals.

Care Minister

All rotation activities will already be prepared in the classroom, so Group Leaders only need to show up and lead each group to and from the rotations. Explorers Nursery Volunteer

POSITION IMPACT
A nursery volunteer ministers and cares for the youngest members of the Thanksgiving community. Be a positive presence for children in the care of the Nursery.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Love for young children

  • Willingness to teach children the love of Jesus through word and deed

  • Must be in 7th Grade or older to serve.

  • Must complete a background check.

Explorers Welcome Team

Welcome families during drop-off and pick-up. Assist with check-in on computers. Help new families register and give tours of the Explorers Campground. Help direct groups during rotation changes.

Communion Assistant

MAIN GOAL: Distribute communion elements to participants

REPORTS TO:  Worship Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Able to serve every 5 weeks

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Possess maturity to stand before the congregation

  • Willingness to attend training that will help you to deepen your understanding of the sacrament

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely handle the communion vessels and elements

  • Use the hand sanitizer before distribution of elements to congregants

  • Say, “Body of Christ, given for you,” when handing out the bread

  • Say, “Blood of Christ, shed for you,” when handling the grape juice and wine

  • Bless children too young to receive communion by making a cross on their chest and saying, “Jesus loves you very much and lives in your heart,” or something similar

Count Team

POSITION IMPACT
Members of the count team process and record the weekly contributions and prepare the bank deposit of those offerings. Accurate recording of donations is necessary to provide meaningful contribution reports for our contributors and for the church leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Detail-oriented

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information

  • Reliability in keeping scheduled turns, or making arrangements for a substitute counter

First Impression Team members are often the initial contact someone has with Thanksgiving Church. The focus of this ministry is to create a welcoming, authentic, and safe atmosphere.

  • Able to identify and engage guests

  • Able to identify and engage individuals seeking Community Care and determine appropriate action

Parking Lot Attendant

MAIN GOAL: Help guests feel welcomed at Thanksgiving

REPORTS TO:  First Impression Team Lead

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be excited and ready to love on our guests!

  • Willingness to receive training on how to communicate the vision, mission, activities and programs of the church with enthusiasm

  • Desire to give guests and worshippers a memorable experience

  • Be able to serve every 3 or 5 weeks

  • Arrive 30 minutes before services and stay 15 minutes after services

  • Willingness to receive training

RESPONSIBILITIES
Please note that you will receive extensive training that will equip you for these responsiblities

  • Greet all guests and worshipers with enthusiasm and friendliness. Each guest should receive a welcoming smile, a handshake, and help with doors, stairs, children, etc.

  • Check the local weather forecast and dress appropriately to be outside for 30-45 minutes

  • Count the number of cars after each service and report that information to the Team Leader

  • Obtain a parking vest, lanyard, and umbrella (if necessary) from the Team Leader

  • Ensure the cleanliness of the parking lot

  • Attend training sessions

Grounds Team

POSITION IMPACT
Members of the Grounds Team are important to providing safe, clean, and welcoming facilities and grounds for attendees and guests so that they can engage with God and with one another.

QUALIFICATIONS
Familiarity with power lawn mowers and trimmers.  

BENEFITS
The benefit of volunteering to be a part of the Grounds Team is the opportunity to be in community with others and to pray for and with each other.

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT
Weekly, as available on Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays for 2-3 hours.  Work crews can be set up for mornings, afternoons or evenings based on availability and needs of volunteers.

Heritage Choir Member

POSITION IMPACT
As a Heritage Choir member you will have the opportunity to lead congregants of the Traditional Worship service in worship through song.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passion for and skill in music

  • Ability to read music is preferred due to use of notated music

The choir sings in the Traditional Worship Service twice a month on the first and third Sundays of each month.  Rehearsals are each Monday at 6:30pm.

Little to no training is necessary to volunteer for this position; unless you or the Choir Director choose to pursue voice lessons as a means to growing as a vocal musician.

Hospitality Outreach Volunteer

POSITION IMPACT
Meet and greet people who attend events held at Thanksgiving.

QUALIFICATIONS
Have the gift of hospitality and enjoy serving at special events and celebrations is helpful.     

BENEFITS
This is a place to volunteer when your schedule permits. You will be contacted when opportunities arise and given the option to help if you are available. At times, these can be short notice (a couple of days).

TRAINING
The Hospitality Outreach Volunteer coordinator or co-coordinators will be guided through all aspects of this outreach by the Care Ministry Coordinator. Volunteers will receive a brief orientation prior to serving at events.

NextGen Food Team

A NextGen Food Team member or ‘Grub Gatherer’ is willing to pick-up, deliver, and assist with serving snacks, drinks, and meals for weekly NextGen activities Junior High LIVE, Senior High LIVE, and The SPOT.

This is a prestigious role, of utmost importance as food is the draw to keep these students coming back for more both physically and spiritually. 

COMMITMENT

One to three hours per month (1-hour per week when scheduled).

NextGen Food Team Coordinator

A NextGen Food Team Coordinator ‘Grub Gatherer Leader’ is willing to oversee the scheduling, coordination, and direction of NextGen Food Team Volunteers. The Food Team Volunteers pick-up, deliver, and assist with serving snacks, drinks, and meals for weekly NextGen activities Junior High LIVE, Senior High LIVE, and The SPOT.

This is a prestigious role, of utmost importance as food is the draw to keep these students coming back for more both physically and spiritually.

NextGen Junior High LIVE Mentor

A NextGen Junior High Mentor has the opportunity to impact the lives of Thanksgiving’s Junior High students.  A Mentor pours into the lives of churched and unchurched teens both spiritually and just as a positive influence who is willing to be there and listen to them as they navigate their early teen years. 

QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a passion to pour into the lives of Junior High students on a consistent basis and want to build relationships.  Must have a love for students and be excited to show it at all times.  Must be a positive role model and have a growing relationship with Christ; and be willing to share experiences of how to grow your faith even in challenging times, especially as students begin the Confirmation process.
Must be at least 19 years of age.

BENEFITS
Benefits to volunteer include the satisfaction of watching students grow in their spiritual faith walk and building individual relationships with Junior High students. Become part of a team that has an opportunity to mentor students who might not otherwise have anyone else to turn to as a mentor.

The mentor has the opportunity to build relationships with students, set an example of positive authenticity, engage in activities, oversee students safety, and be a compassionate presence in their lives.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a passion to pour into the lives of Senior High students on a consistent basis and want to build relationships.  Must have a love for students and be willing to show it at all times.  Must be a positive role model and have a growing relationship with Christ; and be willing to share experiences of how to grow your faith even in challenging times.
Volunteers must be adults out of high school one year.

NextGen Tech Team

POSITION IMPACT
This position is responsible for handling the technology equipment (lighting, sound, and media) during Junior High, Confirmation, and Senior High Events.  Use of this technology allows for a seamless flow of worship for the students both through audio and video, music, and following the lesson.

QUALIFICATIONS
Have a passion for multi-use media and creating engaging experiences.  Have a desire to play a part in guiding students in their faith walk. 

BENEFITS
Provides the opportunity to interface and build meaningful, lasting relationships with Junior and Senior High students.  An opportunity to provide mentorship to students who might be interested in working technology and presentation skills.

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT
2-4 hours per month. Minimum 1 year commitment to Jr. High Ministry. Approximately 2 hours on Wednesday evenings throughout the school year from 6:00-8:30pm. Additional time may be required for relationship building and mentoring students on equipment and presentation.

NextGen The SPOT Facilitator

The SPOT Facilitator leads The SPOT, a weekly space in which students unwind, relax, and engage in community. Includes oversight of the physical safety of students, setting a positive example, playing games (board games and active activities such as basketball/gaga ball), and being physically and mentally present with the students.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a passion to pour into the lives of Senior High students on a consistent basis and want to build relationships.  Must have a love for students and be willing to show it at all times.  Must be a positive role model and have a growing relationship with Christ; and be willing to share experiences of how to grow your faith even in challenging times.

 The Prayer Chain is a ministry where people send in urgent prayer requests to the church and the ministry team is begin to immediately pray for the person's needs.

Student Ministry Prayer Team Leader

POSITION IMPACT
The Student Ministry Prayer Team Leader will be involved in a powerful, behind-the-scenes ministry for all of Student Ministry.  This prayer team will help guide the important spiritual growth of Thanksgiving's Student Ministry as well as engage in spiritual warfare for the student's personal spiritual growth.

QUALIFICATIONS
Preferably, volunteer will need to have experience leading others in prayer and training in spiritual warfare.  Must be willing to train others in intercessory prayer.

Our video production is growing and growing. Video Switcher Operator

POSITION IMPACT
The Video Switcher Operator is a behind-the-scenes position that serves primarily during weekend services in the sound booth (in the Heritage Chapel) or in the Control Room (Worship Center – room 210). The Video Switcher Operator helps to enhance both the online and in-person services through selecting which camera or media inputs are displayed to the congregation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Willingness to be trained in new technology

  • Desire to use media in creative ways to augment worship services

  • NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

TIME COMMITMENT

Worship Camera Operator

POSITION IMPACT
The Camera Operator is a behind-the-scenes position that serves primarily during weekend services in the sound booth in the Heritage Chapel, in "the barge" (in the rear of the Worship Center), and/or the Control Room (Worship Center room 210).  The Camera Operator helps to enhance both the online and in-person services through the lens of the camera.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enjoy the idea of being part of a new aspect of worship life at Thanksgiving

  • Enjoy working with technology

  • Willingness to be trained in new technology

  • Desire to use media in creative ways to augment worship services

  • NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

Media Technician

POSITION IMPACT
The Media Technician is a behind-the-scenes position that serves primarily during weekend services in the sound booth of the Heritage Chapel, in "the barge" (in the rear of the Worship Center), and/or the Control Room (Worship Center room 210). Positions include both Front of House (FOH) and Live Feed (LF) for the Worship Center and FOH for the Heritage Chapel. The Media Technician is responsible for executing the media presentations that are seen on the sideboards and online.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enjoy working with technology

  • Willingness to be trained in new technology

  • Desire to use media in creative ways to augment worship services

Sound Technician

POSITION IMPACT
The Sound Technician is a behind the scenes position that serves primarily during weekend services in the sound booth of the Heritage Chapel, "the barge" (in the rear of the Worship Center), and/or the Control Room (Worship Center room 210). Positions include both Front of House (FOH) and Live Feed (LF). The Sound Technician is responsible for helping to highlight and properly amplify the work being done on the stage by the pastors, the worship team and by other volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A desire to help others encounter God in worship

  • An appreciation of music (this helps to be able to hear mixes in the unique way necessary for this position)

  • Previous experience with technical arts preferred, but not required

  • Ability to learn quickly if no previous experience

Worship Team Member

POSITION IMPACT
As a Worship Team Member (either vocalist or instrumentalist) you will use your musical gift to help the lead the congregation into worship of the Lord.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a personal and growing relationship with the Lord

  • Passion for and skill in music, either vocally or instrumentally.

  • Love of worship and lifting up the name of the Lord

BENEFITS

  • Opportunity to use the gifts the Lord has given you to help lead others into worship

  • Provide an opportunity for musical ability growth as well as in growing closer to the Lord.

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT
For weekends you are scheduled: Individual practice on your own time at at your own discretion for what you need (music, sheet music and audio files are available in advance so you can come to rehearsal prepared) in addition to: Thursday night rehearsal at 6:30pm.
